What is torrent? Torrent is a file extension for a BitTorrent file format used by BitTorrent clients. Similar to a URL, torrent file is very convenient to get very large media files spread from one computer to another computer, such as entire movies and TV shows and so on. In the BitTorrent file distribution system, a torrent file contain no media file, but the URLs of metadata about files and folder that can be spread on the internet.
As an efficient way of P2P media files distribution, torrents are increasingly widely-used for sharing and watching media files on your computer. Here comes a question, how could open and play a torrent file that contain no media content? A torrent media playback application is needed for torrent stream. The object is to waste your time. For rest of the files, depends on what format they are in. Some you may be able to repair, most you can't. With VLC playback if you have one that gives you the option of rebuilding the index, let the player do that.
You can then usually save the result if there is any. Generally, if VLC can't play it, it isn't worth wasting time on. Delete it and move on. Redwudz, thanks a lot for your reply. The torrent files I downloaded are not fake and neither of other movies.
They are from a prestigious private torrent tracker with invite only memberships and strict rules and host only high quality stuff from member uploaders. It is a very well run and managed site and one of top-rated private trackers on the net. The problem with torrents is that as they get older, the number of seeders drop till there are only one or two. If they decide to delete the file, you end up with an unfinished download.
In these forums I have seen people doing amazing stuff with videos, and this site is probably the best and all encompassing reference on the net for anything to do with videos. In terms of streaming - it's opening a local stream channel that I couldn't make work, but it's important to ask why is it doing so.
Can't I just play the contents? Tribler is very cpu-intensive as far as I checked. But it will get better i suppose and the anonymity feature is awesome.
Again thanks for the link. Pretty awesome. But for the god of me I can't understand the reasoning - it's streaming a locally downloading file to you locally. Probably because it doesn't trust your player can play it?
Windows Media Player maybe? I think it streams content because is easily to show partially downloaded content as stream than as complete file but its only my guess — sage We wanted mac clients and most of these won't work, right? For windows I know there are a lot of options.

You move download location and force-recheck each and every torrent in it's new location. Once the repair is finished, it will automatically play back in the player.
